We are thrilled to announce that Family Group at Richard Atkins Primary School has been shortlisted for funding from the THINC (Tackling Health Inequalities through Neighbourhood Collaboration) Fund, a programme that empowers local people in Brixton and Peckham to decide how funding is spent in their community.

Family Group has been a vital part of Richard Atkins Primary since 2018, providing therapeutic support for children and their families. Each week, families come together in a safe, welcoming space with a qualified therapist to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and help children thrive both at school and at home.

“This initiative is not a response to challenges; it is a celebration of potential,” says Mark Griffiths, CEO of The School & Family Works. “Families join to support their children, share experiences, and grow stronger together. The work we do uplifts the whole school community.”

If successful, this funding would allow Family Group to continue weekly sessions for families in 2026, supporting children, parents, and the wider school community at Richard Atkins. The ripple effect is powerful: children become more settled and engaged at school, parents feel more confident and supported, and the community as a whole grows stronger.

The School & Family Works is proud to see the impact of Family Group reflected in the school community. We are asking Brixton residents to support our charity by voting for Richard Atkins Family Group before 30th November. By voting, you are helping to support local families, strengthen school–community partnerships, and create brighter futures for children.
